How to Use the Design Studio
The Design Yangu canvas editor runs entirely in your browser — no software to install, and it works on mobile too. Follow this step-by-step guide to create your first design.
Choose Your Product
From the homepage or product catalogue, pick the item you want to customise — a t-shirt, hoodie, mug, tote bag, phone case, or poster. Click 'Customise' or 'Start Designing' to open the canvas editor preloaded with that product.
Add Text
Click the 'Text' tool in the left toolbar. Type your message, then use the top toolbar to change the font, size, colour, and alignment. You can rotate, resize, and reposition text by dragging it on the canvas. Try bold, italic, and letter-spacing options to create the look you want.
Upload Your Artwork
Click the 'Upload' button (image icon in the toolbar) and select a PNG, JPG, or SVG from your device or phone gallery. For best results use PNG files with a transparent background. Once uploaded, drag your image to position it, and use the corner handles to resize while keeping proportions.
Explore Clipart and Drawing
Browse our clipart library for shapes, icons, patterns, and decorative elements you can add to any design. Use the freehand drawing tool to sketch directly on the canvas. You can adjust colours, stroke weight, and opacity for any element.
Arrange and Layer Elements
Use the layers panel to reorder elements — bring items forward or send them back. Group related elements together, lock layers you have finished editing, and toggle visibility to focus on one element at a time.
Preview and Save
Use the product preview toggle to see how your design will look on the actual product. When you are satisfied, click 'Save Design' to store it in your dashboard, or click 'Add to Cart' to go straight to checkout. Saved designs can be reopened and edited at any time.
Placing an Order
Once your design is ready, here is how to complete your order.
- 1Select your options: Choose your size (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL for apparel), colour variant, and quantity. Our size guide is available on every product page.
- 2Add to Cart: Review your design in the product preview. When you are happy, click ‘Add to Cart’. You can add multiple items from different products before checking out.
- 3Enter delivery details: Provide your full name, phone number, and delivery address. For Nairobi deliveries, including your estate or area (e.g. “Westlands, Nairobi”) helps our courier reach you faster.
- 4Pay: Choose M-Pesa (recommended), card, or bank transfer. For M-Pesa, enter your Safaricom number and confirm the STK push on your phone. You will get an order confirmation via SMS and email immediately.
- 5Track your order: Watch your order progress in your dashboard. You will receive SMS updates at each stage: production, dispatched, and out for delivery.
