Here's a question we want you to ask before you buy anything online in Kenya: 'Is this place safe?' Not just 'do they have nice products?' but the deeper question: can I trust this platform with my M-Pesa PIN, my phone number, my delivery address? It's a fair question. And because Design Yangu is asking you to trust us — a brand-new Kenyan platform — you deserve a real answer. Not marketing language. Actual specifics.
When you tap 'Pay with M-Pesa' on Design Yangu, we send a request directly to Safaricom Daraja API — the same official payment gateway used by banks, hospitals, and government services across Kenya. Safaricom sends the STK Push directly to your phone. You enter your M-Pesa PIN on your own phone, not on our website. We never see it. We never store it. Your PIN travels directly between your phone and Safaricom's servers. Design Yangu sits outside that loop entirely.
We collect only what we need to process your order: your name for the order confirmation and delivery label, your phone number for order updates, your delivery address for fulfilment, and your email if provided for receipts. We do not collect your M-Pesa PIN ever, your ID number, your financial history outside Design Yangu, or third-party tracking data sold to advertisers. We don't sell your data.
Kenya's Data Protection Act (2019) requires any company handling personal data to collect only what's necessary, tell you what it's used for, allow you to request deletion, and protect data with appropriate security measures. Security under the hood: HTTPS everywhere means every page runs on HTTPS and your connection is encrypted. No credentials stored in our code — every API key and database password lives in a separate secured environment file. Security headers block common attacks including clickjacking and cross-site scripting. Regular security reviews run automated and manual checks on the platform.
What happens if something goes wrong: if your payment processes but your order doesn't confirm, we'll catch it in our monitoring system and contact you within 24 hours. If your order is lost or arrives damaged, contact us within 7 days of the expected delivery date — we'll either reprint or refund. M-Pesa refunds process within 3-5 business days once approved.
